The P3 Mentorship group have many years of experience playing and coaching hockey at every level.  The Mentors are dedicated to making a difference in the game and helping coaches on their path to player and coach development. The mentors are committed “Life long Learners” and they are excited about supporting dedicated volunteer coaches. Mentors participate in annual Mentorship Seminars sharing  their  knowledge and mentorship experiences with new mentors. Enjoy reading the Biographic summaries of each mentor.

Pat Laughton

Pat lives in Cochrane and enjoys working with younger minor hockey age groups. He has many years of experience running Calgary hockey schools and oversaw the original Calgary Flames /Universal Hockey school. Pat managed the Crowchild Arenas for thirty-two years and coach all levels in the community. Pat’s playing experiences at Junior, Minor Pro and playing in the Austrian National League led his start in teaching and coaching hockey in Europe. Pat enjoys watching his grandchildren play hockey in Cochrane.

Morris Lukowich 

Morris’s experience as an NHL player provided a foundation for teaching in his Maximum Scoring Edge programs. Morris has worked with Timberwolves teams and provides important ideas on the teaching side as well as practice and coaching communication. Morris was a Key Note presenter at the most recent P3 Sports Mentorship Certification session. His topic “Effective Communication for Coaching Success and Excellence”.  The power of positive coaching and improving coaching awareness and communication will impact coaches, parents and players providing a positive hockey experience.  Morris has completed his Advanced 1 (High Performance) NCCP coaching certification. Morris has attended and presented at many High Performance symposiums.  His dedication to playing has transferred into mentoring and coach development.

Ryan Hilderman 

Ryan has coached at all levels including Bantam, Minor and Major Midget AAA as well as Junior A. He was twice named Calgary Royals Coach of the year. Ryan has experience as a regional scout in the Western Hockey league. Recently he has served as a Coach Mentor for Hockey Alberta . Ryan has shifted his focus to the coach ad player development side, creating P3 Sports Inc. To provide Coaches and Athlete with a support system to promote a positive hockey experience within the game of Hockey.

Darren Halasz

Darren has coached at every level from novice to Midget AAA.  He has over 20 years experience instructing at development camps and working with players of all abilities.  In 2014, Darren was awarded the southern division coach of the year in the AMBHL and in 2016; he was the head coach of the Macs tournament champions NWCAA Flames.   Darren has played Major Jr. and CIS hockey has been with the Calgary board of education for over 25 years and is currently teaching middle school in Northwest Calgary.

Dennis Polonich 

Dennis  “Polo” spent his entire NHL career with eh Detroit Redwings. After playing he coached for twelve years in Major Junior and Junior A Hockey. Dennis’s present focus is advising Kid’s and parents that aspire to become Elite players.  His knowledge and experience as player and coach will have an impact helping coaches develop their players both on and off the ice.

Wally Kozak

Wally provides a wealth of knowledge to the P3 Sports programs. He combined teaching and coaching high school sports and running hockey schools for over 25 years. He has coached every level of hockey and has contributed to Hockey Canada’s certification programs with age appropriate curriculum and a “ Right Start” video for teaching foundational skills. Wally was a Defensive Skills Coach with the 1988 Olympic team, has coached in 3 Spengler cups, and coached teams in the 1998 and 2002 Olympics. Wally  has dedicated himself to serving the “good of the game.. Wally is an advocate of the development of hockey and life skills through sports.

Wayne Andrews

Wayne is a former College player with over 25 years of coaching experience at various age and skill levels. He was a coaching member for 3 National College Championships and has completed his Advanced 2 (High Performance 2) Certification.  Wayne has 10 years of mentorship and coach development experience.

Tom Molloy

Tom has a unique background in European hockey development systems. After playing NCAA hockey he taught physical education and coached school sports as well as minor hockey.  Tom has coached CIS men and women’s hockey. Tom has worked with many acclaimed coaches; Willy Desjardins at the U of C, and world renown coaches from Russian and Finland.  Tom’s website Hockey Coaching ABC’s is an excellent website for competitive Hockey Coaches. Tom’s hockey knowledge and passion for the game certainly help coaches to grow as a coach.

Gerald Bouchard

Gerald is a Skill development expert.  He has a unique ability to adapt his drills for players to acquire the Skill being practiced.  Gerald is a Graduate of the Notre Dame Hound program and focuses on the process of developing Life and Hockey Skills. Focusing on the Process rather than the Result is something that P3 and Gerald advocate. He has played Midget AAA, Junior A and Professional Hockey in Slovakia. He has coached a number of a Minor Hockey age groups, and contributed to BC and Hockey Alberta’s Programs of Excellence.

Steve Mueller

Steve opted out of Junior hockey to pursue his education.  Having sons playing Bantam AAA and a Pee Wee 3, he understands the development spectrum. He has coached almost 20 years at the Pee Wee level and runs a Southern Alberta Hockey development program. Steve served, as a coach director with the Cochrane association and is a current member of the Foothills AAA board.  He has been a certified Power Edge Pro instructor for 5 years and continues to attend clinics.   His passion for personal improvement will impact his mentorship role for coach and player development.

Terry Sydoryk

Terry played in the WHL and graduated from the University Alberta playing for Clare Drake and the most successful university program in North America.  Terry has completed his HP 1 (High Performance) certification has coached Pee Wee AAA and Minor Midget AAA Hockey. He is presently coaching Minor AAA Midget in Calgary . Terry enjoyed his mentorship experience last year and P3 appreciates his passion and contribution to making the mentorship a beneficial experience for everyone.

Barkley Sauter

Played minor hockey in Stoughton Sk. Continued my junior career in Saskatchewan as well playing one year in Weyburn and three in Melfort. I was fortunate enough to win two SJHL Championships. Continued my playing career at Acadia university for four years wining an AUA title and playing in a CIS final. I then moved on to play for the Oklahoma City Blazers (CHL) Fresno Falcon (ECHL) and Austin Ice Bats (CHL). I turned to coaching in 2002 and was an assistant coach with the Saskatoon Blades under head coach Kevin Dickie for 2 years. I also coached as an assistant for one year under Bill Peters at the University of Lethbridge. Recently I have been coaching minor hockey for the past 7 years at all age and levels.

Derek Loomer

Derek Loomer

Derek Loomer is currently the VP Operations, Head Coach and Founding Partner of the Cochrane Jr. A Chaos that play in the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League. He played for the Olds Grizzlys of the AJHL and the University of Calgary Dinos before starting his coaching career as interim coach for the Olds Grizzlys in 1989. After finishing University, Derek has coached boys and girls hockey at every level beginning in 1994. Derek is currently the Vice President of Finance for Crescent Point Energy, a position he has held since January 2015. Prior to that he was the CFO at TAQA Energy Ltd. He has three grown children and lives in Calgary with his wife Debi.
